New Patients

A simpler start to care.

Here’s what to expect before your first visit, how to prepare, and where to find answers to practical questions.

Your first appointment

There’s room
to take your time.

Your first visit focuses on understanding what brings you in, your history, and what you’d like help with. You don’t need to rehearse or have everything figured out.

We’ll discuss initial recommendations and next steps, including whether follow-up visits or other services may be appropriate.

A few helpful answers

Questions are welcome.

Do I need a diagnosis before reaching out?

No. You can seek care because something feels difficult, confusing, or different. An evaluation helps us understand your concerns and discuss appropriate support.

Where do I need to be for my appointment?

You need to be physically located in Minnesota during your visit. Choose a private, quiet location with reliable internet and a device with a camera and microphone. Please do not join while driving.

Do you accept insurance?

Visits are currently self-pay. We plan to accept insurance in the future; participating plans and a start date have not yet been announced. Please check with the practice before booking and do not assume your plan is accepted. Contact us for fee information.

Can I schedule for an adolescent?

Adolescent care is offered. Please ask about age eligibility and required consent before scheduling. We’ll discuss how caregivers may be involved and the limits of confidentiality as part of the intake process.

Will I be prescribed medication at the first visit?

That depends on the assessment and what is appropriate for you. We’ll discuss options together. Medication, including a particular prescription, is not guaranteed.

What if virtual care isn’t the right fit?

We’ll discuss whether your needs would be better met by an in-person appointment, a specialist, or a different level of care, and talk about next steps.

How do I get help between appointments?

Ask about communication, refill requests, and response times when establishing care. Email is for general questions and scheduling, is not continuously monitored, and is not appropriate for urgent concerns. Call or text 988 for crisis support; call 911 for immediate danger or a medical emergency.
